Focus on the R & D and production of plant fill light
Last year, the Belgian fruit and vegetable company merksk é established a new plant in the Belgian city of Berks é in December. At present, the company is investing in the further expansion of a 10 hectare greenhouse equipped with LED lighting to produce tomatoes of the same taste and quality throughout the year.
Loes van der velden of Den Berk D é lice said that the company will expand 10 hectares of greenhouse in rijkevorse. After that, the total area of characteristic tomatoes will reach about 60 hectares, and there is still room to expand to 70 hectares. The company's goal is not to become the largest grower, but to cultivate the most delicious tomatoes. At the same time, the company hopes to meet the needs of the market.
In the newly expanded 10 hectare greenhouse, den Berk D é lice uses LED lighting. Luc beirinckx, the company's co manager, said that thanks to the LED artificial light source, they were able to produce tomatoes with the same taste and quality as summer in winter. Although the application of LED lighting costs 2.8 million euros, LED is an energy-efficient energy-saving light source, which means that the energy required to achieve the same yield of tomatoes is much less than before.
It is reported that at present, den Berk D é lice's tomatoes are sold all over Europe and a small number of regions outside Europe, most of which are concentrated in Belgium, Scandinavia (Peninsula) and Germany. In the future, the company plans to establish production sites in Europe outside Belgium. (source: freshplaza; compiled by: ledinside Janice)
